Deanna Jo Beard, 83, formerly of Kutztown, PA passed away on April 14, 2025.Born January 23, 1942 in Pottsville, PA she was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Flail) Santai.She spent her childhood and adolescent years at The Lutheran Home in Topton, PA with her sister, Sandy Bauer, and brother, Joe Santai.
The Home remained a warm spot in Deanna’s heart for her whole life. Her memories of ice skating, food in abundance at the dinner tables, sports, summer and winter fun, piano, religious lessons, the pond, swimming and holidays were often recounted for her grandchildren along with many visits to the grounds with them. She graduated from Brandywine High School in Topton.
She was a proud, longtime employee of Caloric Corporation, also in Topton. For many years she provided Home Healthcare to seniors throughout Berks and Bucks Counties before retiring.Deanna has three adult children: Daria Greene, William Beard and Paul Beard.
Deanna was a loving, caring and generous grandmother of 12 – Steven, Nicholas, Nadia, Natalie, Laura, Olivia, Jonathan, Emily, Melanie, Danielle, Kelly and Kayla. She also has nine great-grandchildren – Evelynn, Marshall, Ivan, Dominic, Jonah, Jovanni, Lucas, Liam, Lainey.She will be missed dearly by family, friends and many who knew her.
She was a very bright light in many lives and will always have a special place in the hearts and minds of those closest to her.A viewing and ceremony will be held in Deanna’s memory on April 25, 2025 from 6 pm to 8 pm at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading 19611.
