Hyderabad: Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has conducted a raid on an unlicensed premise in Palimela village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district and the drugs that were illegally stocked for sale were seized. One person identified as Katkam Abhilash was found to be stocking drugs on the premises without holding a drug licence. Acting on credible information regarding the illegal stocking and sale of medicines, the DCA officials raided the unlicensed premise and found stocking drugs without holding a drug licence.
They detected the unauthorized stocking of a large quantity of medicines intended for sale. As many as 31 varieties of medicines were found on the premises, including veterinarian’s samples and those which were not for sale along with institutional supply drugs comprising human and veterinary antibiotics. Officers seized the stock, worth Rs.
25,000 and the samples were collected from the premises. An investigation would be carried out and action would be taken as per the law against all the offenders, said VB Kamalasan Reddy, DCA Director-General. He said the wholesalers and dealers who supply medicines to individuals stocking and selling drugs without a drug license were also punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
Stringent action will be taken against such wholesalers and dealers. They would mandatorily ensure that the recipient entities hold a valid drug licence before supplying medicines to them. The DCA issues drug licences for the stocking and selling of medicines in accordance with the provisions of the Act.
Stocking drugs for sale without a drug licence was punishable under the Act with imprisonment for up to five years..
