DC conducts check at civil hospital

Times News Network Ludhiana: Deputy commissioner Jitendra Jorwal conducted a surprise inspection of Ludhiana’s civil hospital on Thursday morning. He inspected medical services , ongoing construction work and availability of essential and non-essential medicines. The DC also reviewed OPD services, Mother and Child Centre and drug store.

He checked cleanliness and interacted with doctors, staff as well as patients to take suggestions for improvement. During a meeting with doctors and others, Jorwal reiterated the commitment of the state government to provide advanced infrastructure, quality health services and necessary medicines to patients. He also asked officials to speed up construction work for expansion of the Mother and Child Centre and other development projects at the civil hospital.



Asking officials of Punjab Health Systems Corporation (PHSC) to provide a detailed report on the timeline for each work, he emphasised that all development works must be completed within specified deadlines. The district commissioner also spoke to patients in wards about the availability of free medicines and behaviour of the staff. During the inspection, he found that a doctor had prescribed a medicine that was not available in the pharmacy.

He instructed the senior medical officer to investigate the issue and submit a report. He also instructed officials concerned to ensure that patients did not face difficulties in accessing services. Jorwal directed officials to create a comprehensive plan to make adequate seating arrangements for attendants in waiting areas.
