UFC 314 kicked off in style ahead of a big night of fights at the Kaseya Center in Miami. With names like Alexander Volkanovski , Diego Lopes , Paddy Pimblett and Michael Chandler all set to be in action later on in the night, April 12 has a good chance of producing some spectacular highlights. Nora Cornolle already got the action off to a strong start after submitting Hailey Cowen even if she did receive some criticism from fans after missing weight .
The second fight of the night pitted two dangerous middleweights up against each other with both men having a good track record of closing the show. In what was an early fight of the night contender for UFC 314 , another athlete from Brazil’s famous Chute Boxe gym emerged as a potential star by producing a devastating finish. Marco Tulio stopped Tresean Gore with a pinpoint right hand following some creative striking From the early moments of their matchup, it was clear that either Marco Tulio or Tresean Gore could be leaving with a bonus given the power that was being put out from both men.
The first round made for must-watch viewing as Tulio’s dangerous and creative striking dominated the action despite Gore having some moments of his own in a high stakes striking match. Tulio nearly secured the finish after dropping his opponent following a clean head kick but the American survived a difficult opening round before coming out for the second. Gore’s toughness was on full display but it was a race against time with his Brazilian foe continuing to grow in confidence and land big strikes.
After hurting Gore once again, Tulio followed up with a straight right hand that forced referee Marc Goddard to instantly wave the fight off following the damage that the 30-year-old had already sustained. The victor called for a fight with former middleweight title challenger Marvin Vettori in his post-fight interview after securing the 14th win of his pro career. His two-fight winning streak was brought to an end in such ruthless fashion that Gore, whilst still being in survival mode, grabbed hold of the referee. Gore immediately attempted a takedown on Marc Goddard by snatching hold of his right leg before the official defended the shot and was able to calm him down with the American quickly realizing that the fight was over. If Tulio doesn’t end up walking away with a performance of the night bonus, let alone a fight of the night bonus, UFC 314 will be something truly special.
