Georgia Tennant, David Tennant 's spouse and mother of five, faced a nightmarish ordeal before she could even share it with her hubby. Married to the Doctor Who legend - who is hosting the BAFTA s this evening - since 2011, Georgia often vocally urges women to stay on top of their cervical cancer screenings, following a scare that hit too close to home. The actress, 40, was haunted by thoughts of her children when her smear test threw up red flags.

She confessed to immediately fearing the worst; a dire mindset that led her to mentally choreograph her own funeral in the moments before breaking the news to David. Back in 2018, to draw attention to the menace of cervical cancer and herald the lifesaving potential of regular smear tests, she chronicled her journey on her personal blog. Accompanying a selfie clad in a hospital gown, she posted: "Here I am on 22nd February 2018.

Although 'tis indeed a fetching look, if you'd like to learn more about why you should never miss a smear test please read the story attached in bio." In heart-wrenching detail, Georgia revealed: "Before I'd made it up upstairs to tell my husband, I'd started planning my funeral. Having kids takes you to that place pretty quickly I find.

" Georgia, who faced a daunting health scare, recounted her visit to the doctor's office where she received the distressing diagnosis of CIN 2 – a precancerous condition. The situation escalated when doctors performed a cervical excision and found that it had developed into cancer. In an emotional account, the mother-of-five previously shared, "The lovely doctor called yesterday.

Results are back. It was cancer. They've got it all but it was cancer.

Survived cancer without ever realising I had it. The lovely doctor called yesterday. Results are back.

It was cancer. They've got it all but it was cancer. Survived cancer without ever realising I had it.

" Reflecting on the life-altering experience, Georgia expressed her shock, saying, "As you can tell I'm still processing this, it's quite a thing to get your head round. My betraying little cervix had begun an attempt to kill me off and by a stroke of baffling luck I had stopped it, beat it, cut it out before it had a chance to make it out of the starting gates (that's dog racing speak for 'hadn't spread beyond the layers they'd already removed')." In the hopes of raising awareness, Georgia strongly encouraged others to undergo the smear test. She conveyed the critical nature of early detection, stating, "If the first part of the story didn't hit home, I hope this bit does.

From borderline changes to cancer to cancer-free in mere months. "It really could have been a different story. One I will be forever grateful I didn't have to tell.

Georgia has been married to David since 2011, and together they are raising their family which includes Ty, 21, Olive, 12, Wilfred, 10, Doris, eight, and Birdie, three. Ty, Georgia's son from an earlier relationship when she was 17, has been adopted by David and is carving out his own acting career, following in the footsteps of his parents.
