The first-ever, 12-team College Football Playoff is weeks away, bringing increased excitement to the sport. On top of that, there doesn't seem to be a clear dominant team like we have seen in years past. Four different teams have held the No.

1 ranking this season. Despite the apparent parity, the question is, how many teams genuinely have a shot at winning the national championship? According to ESPN's Football Power Index, 11 teams have a four percent chance or greater of winning it all. On his YouTube channel "David Pollack College Football," the former "College GameDay" analyst said he believes about 10 teams have a chance, largely due to the impact of the transfer portal.

"I don't know that there's not going to be 10 teams that can win this thing," Pollack said. "I think it's long, and it's never been like this since I've been covering the game for this many years. "It's always been the top of the food chain.

The big-time recruiters, the big-time recruiting classes that stacked, and the people that you knew that could develop them. But the portal has changed every dadgum thing." © Junfu Han / USA TODAY NETWORK Pollack didn't list every team he believes could win, but he mentioned the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon Ducks as teams he believes in.

Pollack also said he would share his complete list on his YouTube channel, which will be released on Wednesday night. He hinted that the Indiana Hoosiers and Boise State Broncos might be on his list. The 12-team playoff, combined with the transfer portal, certainly have expanded the field of national title contenders.
