The Miami Hurricanes have a long national title drought in college football, the last in 2001. However, Miami quarterback Cam Ward is trying to end that streak. On Saturday, Miami kept its undefeated season alive with a 53-31 win over the Duke Blue Devils.
The Washington State Cougars transfer was again stellar under center for the Hurricanes. Ward finished the game with 400 passing yards, five touchdowns, and one interception. Ward leads the ACC with 2,476 passing yards and 24 touchdowns this season.
Ward started his college career at Incarnate Word, where he had 6,908 passing yards, 71 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions from 2020-21. He then tallied 6,963 passing yards, 48 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions at Washington State from 2022-23. Miami started the game hot, going up 14-0 on Duke in the first quarter.
However, the Hurricanes were held scoreless in the second quarter and went into halftime down 21-17. Duke scored on its opening possession of the second half, but Miami answered with 15 points in the third quarter to go up 32-28 heading into the fourth quarter. Miami's defense held Duke to a field goal in the final quarter, and the Hurricane offense scored three more touchdowns to secure the win.

Ward was unranked as a prospect in the 2020 class out of West Columbia, Texas. However, Ward was ranked as a four-star quarterback as a transfer by the On3 Transfer Portal Industry Rankings . Miami is on the road for its next game and faces the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on Nov.
