Pambansang Ginoo David Licauco is set to dazzle audiences as he transitions from the drama world to the vibrant comedy realm in the highly anticipated film "Samahan ng mga Makasalanan." This delightful cinematic experience promises to entertain and amuse, produced by GMA Pictures, making its grand debut on Black Saturday, April 19.

Directed by Benedict Mique, t he film is brought to life by a script from Mique and Aya Anunciacion. Get ready for a hilarious journey filled with laughter and life as David showcases his versatile talent like never before. "I'll do it if the story is interesting and has a purpose.

It's nice to do drama and romantic comedy. For this one, I enjoyed it," said David during an interview in Quezon City recently. In the movie, David portrays a deacon who seeks to transform the lives of the residents of Sto.

Kristo. Armed with fervent faith and the belief that everyone can be saved from sin, Deacon Sam forms the Samahan ng Makasalanan, through which he aims to steer the townspeople of Sto. Kristo toward the path of redemption.

As the residents transform one by one from their evil ways – from being thieves to delivery riders and gossip mongers to newscasters – the young deacon finds himself facing a battle of redemption and temptation he never saw coming. Relating to his character, the handsome actor mentioned that he attended a Catholic school during his childhood, although he never aspired to enter the seminary. "I came from a Christian school, and I was a very religious person growing up.

" David, 30, said this is the first time he won't be working with on-screen partner Barbie Forteza for two to three years. "She has been my on-screen partner in every project for two to three years. Masaya naman because it is something new and challenging," the hunk businessman also said.

But David mentioned that another film with Barbie is forthcoming. David also addressed questions about how he managed his sins. "Of late, wala naman akong kasalanan.

Sometimes a bit pero wala namang grabeng kasalanan.

Next time sorry uli. (Of late, I'm not guilty. I have self-awareness now to not commit sins.

Sometimes a little but nothing serious. Maybe I'll apologize to the Lord for what I did and I won't do it again. Next time, I'll apologize again)," he said.

To avoid bad company, David said: "I choose my friends." I have only a few friends now because as you grow older, you take on more responsibilities. Hindi ka na naghahanap ng maraming kaibigan.

(You're not looking for many friends anymore.) I stay with my core of friends, and I'm happier." David's charisma Benedict stated that David was an excellent choice for this movie project due to the actor's charisma.

"They say that the best actors are the best comedians, which is true. And for David to pull it off, it says how he is as an actor. Kasi mahirap talaga yung transition.

(They say that the best actors are the best comedians, which is true. And for David to pull it off, it says how he is as an actor. Because the transition is really hard.

He pulled it off.

He can adjust and perform as an actor. (I watched him in 'Pulang Araw.' It's hard when you come from a serious series and then you do a light project.

Yung smile niya.

Pambenta yun eh. When he smiles, may charisma. (In fact, there are very few actors like him who have the range of drama and comedy.

What's also good about David is that he has charisma. His smile. That's what sells.

When he smiles, he has charisma.) "Yung ibang artista kahit mag-smile wala talagang charisma. Mahirap yung isang ngiti mo lang, kuha mo na yung crowd.

Yun ang magic ni David. Meron siyang comedic side. (Other artists, even when they smile, don't really have charisma.

It's hard when you just smile, you can take the crowd. That's David's magic. He has a comedic side.

) "I was observing my actors while filming in Vigan. Noong lumapit siya sa crowd, nagtitilian sila. He's nice naman to his fans at matiyaga siya na pumirma sa kanila.

(I was observing my actors while filming in Vigan. When he approached the crowd, they were screaming. He's nice to his fans, and he's patient in signing autographs for them)," said Benedict.

"Samahan" will be shown on Black Saturday, and the director believes it's wonderful time to celebrate Sabado De Gloria with family. "Ang sarap mag celebrate ng ganitong movies. Matatawa ka, maiiyak ka at makakuha ka ng mga lessons.

(It's great to celebrate movies like this. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and you'll learn lessons.) Benedict said he consulted with two priests while writing the screenplay for the movie.

"Marami akong kaibigan na pari so while writing the script, I asked for their tips. I even asked them to read the script. And there are a few corrections after they read it.

(I have many friends who are priests, so while writing the script, I asked for their tips. I even asked them to read the script.

And there are a few corrections after they read it. They said the movie is okay, so they can see that we are also going through something.) On kids to avoid bad company, Benedict said: "Ang hirap sa online.

Kung anu-ano ang nakikita natin. I have a teenage child. Hindi ko rin masabi agad sa kanila.

Pero, I'm frank. Digital age na ngayon eh. So send them life lessons.

I tell them not to do this. Watch this.

(The difficulty is online what we see. I have a teenage child. I can't tell them right away, either.

But I'm frank. This is the digital age now. So I send them life lessons.

I tell them not to do this. Watch this. My sermon to them is now digital, too.

) Benedict became a sacristan during elementary and high school. "Hindi ako religious pero ang dami kong kaibigan a pari. Mabait naman sila.

Kapag elementary kasi lahat yata may pangarap na maging pari. (I'm not religious, but I have a lot of friends who are priests. They're kind.

When I was in elementary school, I think everyone had a dream of becoming a priest.)
