David Archuleta on his sexuality: 'It is time to close the door of feeling ashamed and sorry'

David Archuleta has finally embraced his sexuality with full acceptance.

After years of struggling with his identity, American singer-songwriter David Archuleta is finally embracing his most authentic self, especially following the release of his latest single, "Crème Brulée."David released his latest single, "Crème Brulée," on March 21.After coming out, he shared that his journey has significantly impacted his songwriting process.

“I was able to show the part of me that I was always ashamed of, and I used to write about being ashamed. I just never said what I was ashamed of," he said.He shared that he used to write about his lows and anxieties all the time.



He even questioned God about what he once saw as a 'problem,' which was his sexuality.In facing his struggles, David revealed that he constantly prayed and held onto his faith, hoping to be healed.“It kind of just have this closing and healing like, okay, it is time to close the door of feeling ashamed and sorry for who I am," David expressed.

The American singer-songwriter also revealed that he wrote “Hell Together” last year as his way of saying, “I am afraid of moving forward. I am letting go of these things that were so meaningful to me all my life, but I know I need to do it, and it is time to move on. So, that was healing for me.

”He added," I feel healed and the way I am feeling healed was not the way I expected it because I thought I need to get rid of me, but actually I just have to accept and love me.”David shared that he no longer practices being a Mormon but still has friends within the community. One of them helped him realize that he does not need to feel sorry for being gay.

Speaking about the Lord as he reached acceptance, he said, "He made me gay."In 2020, he realized for the first time that being gay is not evil, and officially came out in 2021."I hope you can see yourself as a beautiful person and that you were created divinely and you are here as you should be," David said to the LGTBQIA+ community.
