Another central Pennsylvania pool has been added to a growing list that won’t be providing relief next summer. On Monday, the operators of Koons Pool in Linglestown announced in a Facebook post that the pool would not reopen in 2025 and its future was uncertain. The pool has been open for 65 years, leading to aging infrastructure, officials said.
“The water bills experienced during the 2024 season indicate that the underground piping needs to be evaluated,” the post stated. The owners said they were working with the local government to “identify long-term solutions.” Several other public pools have closed in the area in recent years, largely citing similar concerns with aging infrastructure and the cost of repairs.
Leaks and decay forced the closure of Manheim Borough’s L-shaped pool earlier this year and Littlestown’s pool closed marking the end of outdoor public pools in Adams County. In June, Penn State Harrisburg announced it was permanently shuttering its indoor pool because of the cost of “significant structural repairs.” General news Fans praying after rock legend’s son diagnosed with cancer, rushed into surgery Country music stars who faced serious health scares in 2024 Popular metal band frontman and pro skateboarder dead at 59.
