Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) will conduct the preliminary examination of PCS-2024 on Dec 22, for which strict and comprehensive arrangements have been made at 1,331 centres across the state in a fair and transparent manner. The UP PCS exam dates were revised two times this year amid paper leak speculations. Initially, the UP PCS 2024 exam was set for March 17, 2024, but was rescheduled due to paper leak speculations.

It was deferred again in October. A host of measures have been introduced to ensure foolproof security and transparency during the exam. After an iris scan, a hologram will be pasted on the admit card of each candidate, confirming that the biometric process of the candidate is complete.

For the first time in the PCS examination, 50% of the examiners have been deployed at the centre from external centres through the district magistrate and district inspector of schools (DIoS). The remaining 50% of the room invigilators will be teachers appointed in the respective examination centre. It will be the responsibility of the room invigilator to ensure that no candidate enters the examination room with their face covered.

Room invigilators must reach the centre two-and-a-half hours before the start of the examination. They will ensure that no candidate enters the room with a copy, book, bag, mobile phone, or any type of electronic device. Invigilators will also not be able to keep mobile phones with them.

The answer sheet (OMR) will be in three copies: the first copy will be the original pink copy, the second copy will be the protected copy of green colour, and the third copy will be the candidate's copy of blue colour. As soon as the bell for the end of the examination rings, the invigilator will take all three copies of the answer sheets and, after counting them, separate all three copies of the OMR sheet from the given space and then return the blue copy to the candidates. The candidates will remain seated on their seats until then.

No candidate will go out of the centre until the end of the examination. The invigilator will ensure that while going to the washroom, the candidates will keep the question booklet, answer sheet, and admit card on their desk. If 30 minutes are left for the end of the examination, the candidates will not be allowed to leave the examination room under any circumstances.

They will be informed about this at the start of the examination itself. A packet of question booklet cum answer sheets will be made available to the invigilator by the centre administrator, unopened, 15 minutes before the start of the examination. The invigilator will show the packet to the candidates 10 minutes before the start of the examination to ensure that it is sealed.

After this, the invigilator will sign the opening certificate and will also get it signed by two candidates from that room. The packet will be opened, and the question paper and answer sheets will be counted and distributed to the candidates seven minutes before the start of the examination.
