DANNY Cowley is quite happy for his in-form Colchester United side to go under the radar in League Two. And ahead of their trip to Cheltenham tomorrow, the U’s boss says he is focused on a strong finish for his team, as they approach the home stretch. Colchester head to Whaddon Road on the back of a ten-match unbeaten streak which has taken them to within six points of the play-off places, with 12 matches remaining.

He said: “I feel like we’re under the radar and I’m quite happy to be there actually, coming up on the rails. “We’re just really focused on us trying to be better than yesterday.

“We try to get to 50 points as quickly as we can and then we earn the right to redefine our objectives. “We’re ten unbeaten now and the ambition is to extend that further. (Image: Karl Vallantine/Focus Images Ltd) “It’s the second time we’ve got to ten games unbeaten.

“We’re really pleased with the level of consistency from the group. “We’re on a good run and in the middle of five games in 14 days so we’d be really foolish to think beyond the next game. “All the energy at the moment is on recovering and preparing for Cheltenham.

“We’ll do our very best to try and find our very highest level of performance, on Saturday and then we’ll recover really well and prepare for two home against Port Vale and Fleetwood.” READ MORE: Danny Cowley reveals reason for Arthur Read withdrawal Colchester have been beaten twice by Cheltenham this season, with a 2-1 home league loss to the Robins last October followed by defeat by the same scoreline to Michael Flynn’s side, in the Vertu Trophy. “Cheltenham are a team that have beaten us narrowly twice and it stung on both occasions, once at home in the league and then in the Vertu Trophy, which was a competition we were really focusing on,” added Cowley.

“That game stung, because we did a lot right on that night. “So, we really feel we owe them one and we’re looking forward to the game. (Image: RICHARD BLAXALL) “You’re always trying to learn, every time you play, every time you train – we’re just trying to get better.

“Credit to Cheltenham, because they’re a really determined team and really hard working. “Michael Flynn’s teams are always ultra competitive. “They play really aggressively against the ball and want to really step up with their pressure, man to man in their style.

“They’ve also got some really good attacking players, the wide players like Thomas, Archer, Williams who has come in from Manchester United and they’ve got goals in their team at the top end as well. “There’s a lot to admire and it’s no surprise that they’re having a good season. “We know that for us, we have to find our consistency, we have to try to get the game on our terms and try to stamp our authority on it, which away from home is always the challenge.
