There are at least 18 areas that will be experiencing danger level heat index on Sunday. According to PAGASA’s heat index forecast on Saturday afternoon, the following areas may experience danger level heat index: 45°C 44°C 43°C 42°C The following areas will be having heat indexes falling under the Extreme Caution Category, with temperatures ranging from 33°C to 41°C: 41°C 40°C 39°C 38°C 37°C 36°C 35°C 34°C Meanwhile, Itbayat, Batanes will have a 32°C heat index, while Basco (Radar), Batanes will be having a 31°C heat index on Saturday, both of which falls under the caution category. Two areas in the country will have a non-hazardous heat index of 26°C, namely Baguio City, Benguet and BSU, La Trinidad, Benguet.
PAGASA categorizes areas with 42°C to 51°C heat index under the danger category, while areas with 52°C and above fall under extreme danger. Heat stroke is imminent in areas under extreme danger, while heat cramps, exhaustion and heat stroke are probably risks under the danger level. PAGASA advises the public to limit outdoor activity, remain hydrated and wear fresh clothes to avoid heat-related illnesses.
