Dan Lanning Earns Massive Bonus After Oregon Escapes Wisconsin

The Oregon coach got a bonus and a contract extension.

Dan Lanning and the No. 1-ranked Oregon Ducks escaped Wisconsin with a 16-13 win over the Badgers on Saturday thanks to a 10-0 fourth-quarter shutout. A 24-yard field goal gave the undefeated Ducks the lead with 2:36 remaining as Lanning's defense held off Wisconsin to complete its third fourth-quarter comeback this season.

Thanks to the victory, Lanning earned himself a sizeable bonus based on his contract incentives. According to multiple reports from USA Today's Steve Berkowitz and The Oregonian's James Crepea , Lanning picked up a $200,000 performance bonus for securing the team's 11th win on Saturday. According to Crepea, "Lanning can earn performance bonuses this season if Oregon wins a 12th regular season game ($200,000), qualifies for the Big Ten Championship game ($100,000), wins the conference title ($150,000) and additional bonuses based on the postseason.



" Jeff Hanisch-Imagn Images After Oregon improved to 10-0 after last weekend's 39-18 win over Maryland, the 38-year-old Lanning also secured a one-year contract extension worth $9.4 million guaranteed, as Berkowitz reported on Nov. 9 .

It's the second of three possible one-year extensions based on his deal, which now runs through January 2031. The Ducks are off next week before closing out their regular season slate with a home game against the Washington Huskies (6-5) on Nov. 30.
