According to the National Weather Service (NWS), the city of Dallas is bracing for a day of hazardous weather conditions. A High Wind Warning remains in effect from 7 AM to 7 PM CDT today, with the NWS forecasting southwest winds 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 65 mph. Residents are being advised to take precautions against damaging winds that can knock down trees, cause property damage, and lead to power outages.

Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles, the National Weather Service warns, suggesting that people stay on the lower levels of their homes and away from windows. Furthermore, amid these gusty conditions, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for all of North and Central Texas, indicating a severe risk for wildfires from late Friday morning into the evening. The Red Flag Warning anticipates extreme fire weather conditions due to the combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and dry vegetation.

With southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph and relative humidity values as low as 8 percent, the NWS warns of the potential for the rapid spread of wildfires. Temperatures in the region are expected to range from 75 to 87 degrees, contributing to the arid conditions. The public is urged to avoid all outside burning and welding today and to promptly report any wildfires to their local fire department or law enforcement office.

For those planning on venturing outside, caution is advised due to the windy conditions, with the NWS suggesting residents keep an eye out for falling debris and tree limbs..
