Bayern has reserves ready for Wirtz, but move might not happen until 2026 (@Plettigoal) The rumors linking Bayern Munich to Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz have been hot and heavy lately, but Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg is here to tell everyone to cool their jets a bit — at least until 2026: There is no change in Bayern’s plan to sign Florian #Wirtz – ideally this summer or in 2026. However, there are currently no talks or negotiations taking place with Leverkusen. A timely decision from Wirtz, whether to extend his contract or make a move, will be crucial.
What is clear: Bayern have reserves set aside for this planned record signing. In addition, sales, salary savings (such as with Sané), and income from the Champions League and Club World Cup will be needed. A sale of the remaining possible 5% stake in the club’s stock corporation is NOT planned to finance the Wirtz transfer.
Many of Bayern’s transfer efforts now hinge on Florian Wirtz. Bayern Munich is in a tricky situation. It allegedly wants Wirtz this summer — a period where much change is anticipated.
Given that, the Bavarians are in a very tricky spot — how does the club make smart improvements, knowing that a year later it will have to spend mega-bucks on Wirtz? Even with reserves ready, potential player sales, and even a possible sale of a stake in the club, it could be a tall task to cover all of the expenses that Bayern Munich needs for a transfer. Bayern have been calling for weeks about Huijsen, but have yet to decide whether they will make a big investment on a centre-back either. Premier League clubs are pushing for the Spaniard. Huijsen will explore all his options in the coming weeks.
Release clause: £50m. Per Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg (via @iMiaSanMia ), Bayern Munich still likes Huijsen, but someone needs to go for the club to seriously pursue the Spaniard: Max Eberl and Christoph Freund like Dean Huijsen - but the Spaniard would only be an option if one of the current center-backs is sold in the summer.
