CPN-MC chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has challenged the government to bring the land of Shera Durbar in Nuwakot under its authority, in light of the government's efforts to do so. Dahal, who visited Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's home district of Jhapa on Monday, claimed that a negative narrative and propaganda are being spread by tarnishing the name of someone who left the CPN-MC more than a decade ago. The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) recommended on Friday that 163 ropani 13 annas of Shera Durbar in Nuwakot, also known as Prithivi Narayan Shah's winter palace, be confiscated from a private company and handed over to the government.
Following a four-month investigation, the CIB submitted a report to the Ministry of Lands, Management, Cooperatives, and Poverty Alleviation, concluding that the land owned by CPN-MC leader Bikesh Shrestha's Annapurna Farming Company should be transferred to the government. After that, Dahal objected and spread propaganda using the CPN-MC name. "Regarding the land of a person who left our party about 12–15 years ago, it has been revealed that it is the property of a CPN-MC leader.
What could be more shameful than this?" Dahal said. "If the CPN-MC leader is found guilty of such a crime, no one will be spared." According to reports, Shrestha, a former CPN-MC committee member and personal assistant to then-Prime Minister Dahal, purchased all of the shares under the name Annapurna Farming.
The total area, including the surrounding land, was 164 ropani, 13 anna, 3 paisa, and 1 dam, with an additional 9 ropani, 175 ropani, 8 anna, and 2 dam, plus approximately 9 more ropani, for a total of 184 ropani. Meanwhile, Dahal challenged the government, claiming that if it is government land, it should be immediately brought under its control. "I want to challenge, if the land of Shera Durbar belongs to the government, to immediately bring it to the name of the government," said Dahal, "but do not spread propaganda against the CPN-MC abusing their political powers.
" On Sunday, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak summoned CIB Chief Additional Inspector General (AIG) Deepak Thapa and Police Chief Basanta Bahadur Kunwar to the Ministry of Home Affairs, instructing them to escalate the investigation into the case..
