New Delhi : In another derailment incident, a Dadar-Porbandar Saurashtra Express on Tuesday came off track at Kim station near Surat in Gujarat. No injuries have been reported yet in the incident, according to railway officials.

Talking to ANI, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railways said that the express at 15:32 hrs, while departing from Kim Station, 4 wheels of a non-passenger coach (VPU) attached next to the engine got derailed. Restoration work is underway and senior officers have rushed to the site to take stock of the situation. Chief PRO of Western Railway said that no injury or harm to any onboard passengers or railway staff was reported and the train traffic is not affected by the derailment.



In recent months, cases of train derailments have seen a surge. Both freight and passenger trains have been increasingly involved in such incidents. Mostly, it is the poor maintenance of tracks and infrastructure that are to be blamed for these.

Some were caused due to sabotage. In several cases, obstructions in the form of gas cylinders, boulders, or broken rails have been placed on railway tracks with the intent to cause damage to trains or harm passengers. These incidents are being probed.
