Tori Konieczkowski's husband Matt went to put their daughter down for a nap. When she heard "shrieking," she decided to investigate.

A mom was confronted by an unexpected sight after checking the baby cam, having heard "shrieking" coming from the next room where her husband was getting their daughter down for a nap. When it comes to babies and naps, routine is everything . Dr.

Claire McCarthy, a senior faculty editor at Harvard Health Publishing, believes it's crucial for infants to stick to a set nap schedule. "Instead of waiting for a child to literally drop and fall asleep, have a regular naptime," she said. "We all do better when our sleep routines are regular, even adults.

If you can, put the child down awake (or partially awake). Learning to fall asleep without a bottle or a breast, or without being held, is a helpful skill for children to learn and can lead to better sleep habits as they grow." That's all well and good in theory, but in practice it's a decidedly different story as Tori Konieczkowski discovered when her husband, Matt, recently attempted to get their 7-month-old daughter down to sleep.

"I work from home," Konieczkowski told Newsweek . "Matt was passing by my office with our daughter and mentioned he was going to try to put her down for a nap. He leaves for work in the afternoon, so he wanted her to be well rested for when the babysitter takes over.

" However, a few minutes later she heard "laughing and shrieking" and realized Matt's nap plans had been seriously derailed. "I turned the camera on to check out the situation. That's when I saw her kicking her feet and playing and it made me laugh so I decided to film it," Konieczkowski said.

The resulting video was posted to TikTok under the handle @toriialexandra. It's been watched over 2.8 million times.

"You can see in the video he was giving his best efforts to put her down for a nap ," Konieczkowski said. "He was handing her the pacifier and she was just rebelling sleep, laughing, and trying to play with him. It gave me a good laugh and I thought other parents could relate.

" Konieczkowski said it "didn't take long" for her husband to realize the nap was not going to happen. "Normally, we put her down when she shows 'tired cues,' and she will nap without a problem," she said. "My husband suspected she was tired, so he attempted to put her down only for her to quickly prove him wrong.

Hence the kicking and laughing." To Konieczkowski's way of thinking, what happened that day and the video that was created a result serve as a reminder to expect the unexpected when it comes to young children. "As parents, we think we know our children, but they always find ways to surprise us," she said.

TikTok Users React Konieczkowski's video, which also has over 50,000 likes, saw TikTok users flock to the comments section and weigh in about the funny video. " A third user posted: "When my son was a newborn, he would let us know he was awake by slamming his legs down in his pack and play.".
