A Maryland woman has shared footage of the scene that greeted her when her partner put their young son to bed. Shanice Jones told she decided to investigate what was going on upstairs after noticing that father and son were "completely silent" up there. What she found when she went to check up had her in hysterics.

, but it is especially crucial to young kids in terms of boosting their overall health and emotional well-being. Parents everywhere will know only too well the fallout that comes from dealing with a child who has not had enough sleep, and chances are most people in their close proximity will, too. That is why bedtime is such an important part of the day.

It is crucial for kids not only to get to bed but also go there at a reasonable hour. A 2012 study published in the Norwegian journal found that, paradoxically, children who go to bed later in the day actually take longer to go to sleep than those who are down earlier in the night. Not only that, the children also tend to wake up more frequently over the course of the night that follows.

Jones knows only too well, thanks to her 3-year-old son, Noah. "Bedtime is definitely difficult. It is challenging to have a toddler, especially since he doesn't have any siblings; it's a lot to keep him entertained," Jones said.

Noah will play any number of tricks to try to avoid it. "As soon as it's time for bed, he's magically thirsty and always wants to play with his toys," she added. However, with dad in charge this particular night, everything seemed to be going smoothly.

"He gave him his nightly bath, brushed his teeth, put on his pjs, and they were supposed to be watching a little TV, then he would've gone to sleep," Jones said. But, as she went about her business downstairs, Jones began to suspect that, upstairs, things were not going quite the way they normally do. "I noticed that it was completely silent in the house, so I got up to ," she said.

That was when she came across the scene showcased in the video she later shared to under the handle . The good news was that Noah was definitely asleep—but he wasn't in his own bed. "When I walked in the room, I noticed dad sleeping in our son's bed and our son sleep on his little pullout couch," Jones said.

Her partner eventually woke up, saying that "he was so exhausted and that our son didn't want to lay in his bed so he laid there instead." He went off to his own bed soon after, leaving Jones to relax for the remainder of the evening and laugh a little to herself at what she had just stumbled on. "I was just happy that everyone was finally asleep," she said.
