Dec 26, 1943 Dec 16, 2024 Cynthia "Jean" Mullis Jones, 80, passed away on December 16, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center after a brief unexpected illness. Jean was born on December 26, 1943, to Frances Smith Mullis and Jack Mullis in Hickory, NC. Jean worked for Duke Energy for 25 years as a Customer Service Representative.
She was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church as a greeter and member of Circle Group 9. Jean loved reading, being outdoors, gardening and taking care of her yard. Jean adored her grandchildren and loved supporting them in their activities and sports.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her son, Hayes Jones. Surviving is her loving daughter, Beth Whittle (Spencer); grandchildren, Blake Whittle and Ben Whittle; extended family and many friends. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.
m., Friday, December 20, 2024, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Hickory, NC on Saturday, December 21 at 11 a.
m. The family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses in the Neurology Department and Palliative Care Unit at Forsyth Medical Center for the loving care they provided. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Loaves and Fishes at Centenary United Methodist Church, 646 West Fifth St.
