Cyclist dies after being hit by school bus, 1 held

Times News Network Ludhiana: Sahnewal police have arrested a school bus driver after he rammed into a cyclist near Neechi Mangli village area on Thursday morning, sources said. The deceased has been identified as Ram Vilas Rajak , a resident of Ambedkar Nagar. The police, on the complaint of Ram Bilas’s son-in-law Praveen Kumar, a resident of Satguru Nagar, Lohara road, registered a case against the bus driver.

Head constable Beant Singh, who is investigating the case, said Ram Bilas was a labourer at a factory in Neechi Mangli village. On Thursday morning, he was going to the factory for work on his cycle when near the bridge of the village the school bus coming from the other side hit him. The cyclist suffered injuries and was rushed to a hospital by the onlookers.



The doctors declared him “brought dead”. The police have registered a case against bus driver Hari Ram of Neechi Mangli under sections 106 (causing death by negligence), 281 (rash driving), 324 (mischief) of the BNS. On asking if children were inside the bus when the accident happened, the investigating officer said the bus was empty.
