New Delhi: A surprise customs inspection was carried out on Jeff Bezos' luxurious $500 million yacht, Koru, while it was sailing near the celebrity hotspot of St. Barts. The raid occurred during a sunbathing session by Lauren Sánchez, the former TV reporter and Bezos’ fiancée.
Sánchez, 55, was spotted relaxing on the top deck of the yacht, dressed in a Versace bikini, a black sarong, and a large hat. Despite the unexpected visit by customs officials, she appeared calm, smiling and posing for pictures. The officials, dressed in uniforms with black life jackets, boarded the vessel and were seen talking to a stewardess, who reportedly gave them directions around the yacht.
Their inspection lasted about three hours and was described as a routine procedure. At the time of the raid, Bezos was not on board, and his representative was unavailable for comment. The customs officers’ visit seemed to have little impact on the yacht’s guests, except for a brief conversation between Sánchez and a stewardess, likely about the ongoing inspection.
