Harvest Days Farm Tour this weekend The 27th Annual Culpeper Harvest Days Farm Tour, sponsored by the County Economic Development Office, runs 10 a.m. to 4 p.

m. today and Sunday at 10 agricultural sites around the county. The free, family-friendly, educational experience showcases a variety of traditional and unique farms and ag-related businesses in the area.



It is a self-guided driving format and visitors can start their adventure at the Welcome Center located at Culpeper Agricultural Enterprises on U.S. Route 29, or at any of the participating farms.

This year, the tour will include promoting single-day ag-related events and the new beverage exploration trail, Sips of Culpeper. Visitors can enjoy food, snacks and unique items for purchase at many of the sites, including plants, herbs, meats and local crafts. People are also reading.

.. Back by popular demand is the Farm Tour Passport — collect stamps from each farm and enter for a chance to win a gift card to one of the participating sites.

Coiner, Phipps to receive regional leadership awards The Rappahannock-Rapidan Regional Commission will honor two community leaders at its 2024 Annual Meeting, starting at 5 p.

m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Fauquier Springs Country Club.

Among the honorees is Robert ‘Bob’ Coiner, Mayor of the Town of Gordonsville, former RRRC chairman and past President of the Virginia Association of Planning District Commissions and Virginia Municipal League. A vocal champion for regional collaboration, Coiner will receive the Government Leadership Award, according to a release. The other honoree is Aging Together Executive Director Ellen Phipps.

An exemplar of the value of cross-organizational collaboration and partnership building and a strong advocate for recognizing the value of the region’s aging population, she will receive the Citizen Leadership Award. First awarded in 2007, the RRRC Regional Leadership Awards honor government and citizen leaders in the region for outstanding contributions to the Rappahannock-Rapidan region and facilitation of enhanced communication, coordination, collaborative governance and planning across the region, according to the release. Women’s rally for Trump-Vance in Charlottesville U.S. Rep.

Elise Stefanik of New York, chairwoman of the House Republican Conference and the highest ranking woman in House Republican Leadership, will be the featured speaker for a 2 p.m. Women’s Rally today in support of former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance.

The rally, the largest women’s rally for Trump-Vance in Virginia, according to a release, will be held at the Trump Winery Pavilion in Charlottesville. Culpeper Foundation Fund grant applications now open Applications for grant funding are now available through the Culpeper Foundation Fund of Northern Piedmont Community Foundation. The grant aims to provide much-needed funding to nonprofits based in or serving Culpeper County.

The initiative supports projects that strengthen the community by addressing key challenges or creating new opportunities, according to a release. Eligible nonprofits can apply for grants ranging from $500 to $5,000 through the NPCF website. Last year through the grant, 11 nonprofits received a total of $23,000, including George Washington Carver Agriculture Research Center Stone Soup Job Skills Training and Food Rescue program and the Culpeper Food Closet’s Buy-A-Bird Thanksgiving Meal project.

“The Culpeper Foundation Fund offers a critical resource for nonprofits that are at the heart of building a stronger, more resilient community,” said Jane Bowling-Wilson, executive director of NPCF. “By funding these essential projects, we help local organizations expand their impact and create lasting positive change in the lives of Culpeper County residents.” The deadline for application submission is Oct.
