CT federal lawmakers cheer $480 million in four contracts awarded to Sikorsky

Two of Connecticut’s federal lawmakers are cheering $480 million in contracts awarded to Sikorsky Aircraft to support manufacture of CH-53K and VH-92A helicopters. The four contracts were announced by the U.S.

Department of Defense. “These blockbuster contracts, providing newest model helicopters, are crucial to key defense capabilities,” said U.S.



Senator Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., and a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee. “They are also a boost for Connecticut’s economy and good-paying jobs in our state,” the state’s senior senator said.

“They are a testament to the highly skilled Sikorsky workers and supply chain companies who build the world’s finest helicopters. There is an ever increasing urgency to the need for such aircraft. I will continue fighting to deliver contracts to Connecticut’s expert defense manufacturers.

” Rich Benton, Sikorsky vice president and general manager, said, “We are proud to call Connecticut home where our skilled technical workforce is dedicated to designing, manufacturing and sustaining aircraft systems that support critical national security and head of state missions.” U.S.

Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-3, and a ranking member of the House Appropriations Committee, said the four contract awards have “a sum value of $480,294,997′′ and are for the manufacturing of CH-53K and VH-92A helicopters by Sikorsky, based in Stratford.” “I am proud to have appropriated the funding, totaling over $480 million, for these orders from Sikorsky, a world-leading aviation firm based in Stratford, Connecticut,” she said.

“These contracts will be fulfilled by skilled and dedicated laborers in Stratford who build the CH-53K and VH-92A helicopters for the U.S. military.
