The 2024 NBA Draft concluded Thursday evening without former Colorado State guard Isaiah Stevens’ name being called, but arguably the best player in CSU history isn’t done playing basketball. Confirmed first by Stevens’ agency, ProMondo Sports, on Instagram and then by CSU in a news release, Stevens has signed with the Miami Heat to play on the team’s summer league squad which could give him multiple opportunities to continue a professional career. Stevens, who tested the NBA Draft market following his senior season at CSU before deciding to return to the Rams for a fifth year, worked out for several NBA teams ahead of this year’s draft, including Minnesota, Denver, Sacramento, the Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State.

In a decorated career at CSU, Stevens played five seasons, starting all 153 games he played as a Ram. He helped guide CSU to two NCAA Tournament appearances during his time in Fort Collins. He is the program’s all-time leader in points (2,350), assists (863) and 3-pointers (629).

He averaged 16 points and 6.8 assists per game in 2023-24 while earning all-Mountain West honors for the fifth year in a row. Stevens felt all along that he has the quality and skills to play in the NBA, such as his ability to make plays and engineer his offense from the point guard position.

His size, which is listed as 6-foot, may have been a contributing factor in him not being drafted. However, he will get an opportunity to show teams what they passed over as the NBA S.
