CSI cross country opens season at UVU Invite

The CSI men finished seventh out of eight teams, while the CSI women finished eighth out of nine teams at the Utah Valley University Invite on Friday.

OREM, Utah — College of Southern Idaho men finished seventh out of eight teams, while the CSI women finished eighth out of nine teams in their season debut at the Utah Valley University Invite on Friday. Utah Valley won the men’s and women’s competition. Freshman Raivio Manzer became CSI's top male runner in the three mile race as he finished in 15:02.

70. Sophomore Jonathan Frew, the lone returning runner from the 2023 men's squad, finished 41st in 15:22. Freshman Ezra Hubbard finished 74th in 15:52.



20. Freshman Bowen Brendle placed 92nd in 16:11.30.

Freshman and Jerome alumnus Vincent Showers finished 103rd in 16:40.30. Freshman Hyrum Spencer finished 117th in 17:42.

10. Utah Valley men won the team title in 23 while CSI earned 199 points. Fellow Scenic West Athletic Conference members Salt Lake and Snow College finished fourth with 105 points and sixth with 177 points, respectively.

“It’s a big focus on just mental toughness. We talked about that a lot at camp and figuring out individually, how bad do they want it?” Freshman Laurie Davidson became CSI's top female runner as she finished 38th in 18:00.80.

Freshman Sage Lyon finished 49th in 18:16.10, just ahead of sophomore Rozzlyn Cazier, who finished 53rd in 18:20.50.

Freshman Aubrie Barzee finished 65th in 18:40.20 and sophomore Stephania Hernandez finished 71st in 18:46.70.

Sophomore Madelyn Christensen finished 74th in 18:52.80. Freshman Savanah Hawkes and Kennedy Kunz finished 75th and 76th in 18:52.

90 and 18:53.10, respectively. Sophomore Macie Chugg finished 90th in 19:08.

80. Freshman Isabella Beilke finished 110th in 19:54.90 and sophomore Kenia Ainsworth finished 113th in 19:58.

90. Freshman Elizabeth Driscoll finished 115th in 20:03. Utah Valley won with 26 points, while CSI finished with 187 points.

Salt Lake finished sixth with 172 points, while Snow finished ninth with 290 points. CSI continues its season with the Dr. Thad Scholes XC Classic, its lone home meet, on Sept.

6 at Canyon Springs Golf Course. The women will race at 9:45 a.m.
