A Florida-based cruise company is offering Americans a rare but expensive chance to skip President-elect Donald Trump's second term in the White House for the next four years. The company, Villa Vie Residences which already offers the unique opportunity to stay on a cruise ship indefinitely , recently announced the launch of its Tour La Vie program which will allow passengers to spend up to four years visiting over 140 countries while staying away from the United States. CEO Mikael Petterso told Newsweek that the choice was not tied to the political outcome but was supposed to offer either side the opportunity to embark on a unique journey.



"We came up with this marketing campaign before we even knew who would win. Regardless of who would have won, you would have half of the population upset," he said. "Quite frankly, we don’t have a political view one way or the other.

We just wanted to give people who feel threatened to have a way to get out," he added. Passengers on the cruise will have the opportunity to spend a month in the Caribbean before a four-month South American journey, including two Panama Canal transits, two World Wonders, the Chilean Fjords, Rio Carnival, an Antarctic sail-by, and an eight-day adventure in the Amazon River. Prices start a little under $40,000 per year.

Single-occupancy cabins for the full four years start at $256,000 while double-occupancy rooms can go up to a whopping $320,000 for the trip. The prices include food and drinks, WiFi, and medical bills. Services provided will include bi-weekly laundry and housekeeping with no additional costs.

Alcohol is only included with dinners. Villa Vie Odyssey can house up to 600 residents and has recently entered the second month of its 15-year tour around the world.

This voyage will visit all seven continents, 13 Wonders of the World, and over 100 tropical islands. Petterson told Newsweek that the election night watch party onboard the ship was divided with each group either watching MSNBC or Fox News for the results. "They didn't want to talk to one another," he said, stating how the groups refrained from engaging in political discourse.
