Cross-Country: Litchfield’s Swenson takes 1st at Maple Lake

MAPLE LAKE — The Rockford boys and Mound-Westonka girls emerged as team champions Friday at the Maple Lake Invitational. Litchfield’s August Swenson was the boys’ individual champion, finishing with a time of 17 minutes, 20.1 seconds.

That edged Rockford’s Grady Dawson, who ran a 17:20.5. The Rockets scored 29 points.



Litchfield was third with 65. Paynesville/Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa took seventh with 197 and Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City was 10th with a 231. In the girls division, Mound-Westonka scored 36 points, three points better than St.

John’s Prep. Litchfield was fourth with 89. St.

John’s Prep’s Louise Ruzanic took first in 20:45.3. Litchfield’s Elsa Helstrom was second in 21:13.
