Work on the 42-acre plot of land between Cannon and Slaughter lane first began in 2006, with development companies making and then ditching various plans. Most recently, construction on around a dozen new houses was started - but the properties remain incomplete to this day.

Nearby resident Gean Sutton said: 'We just expected they'd start selling houses. And lo and behold, everything stopped. And within the last six months, there's nothing happening.

' The site is now overgrown with weeds and littered with heaps of garbage. Vandals have also targeted the area, spraying graffiti and breaking windows.
