The creators behind Netflix’s highly anticipated “Weak Hero Class 2” have offered a deeper look into the upcoming season! “Weak Hero Class 2” will continue to follow the journey of model student Yeon Si Eun ( Park Ji Hoon ), who transfers to Eunjang High School, still haunted by the trauma of failing to protect his friend. At his new school, he will struggle to survive in his new environment, facing even greater violence while fighting to protect those he cares. As excitement continues to grow, director Yoo Su Min and creator Han Jun Hee shared their thoughts on what makes this new season special.
Director Yoo Su Min described the “Weak Hero” series as “a story about a phase in life where boys begin to grow into adults—something everyone goes through. The strength of the series lies in its raw and pure emotions that are true to that age.” He added, “’Weak Hero Class 2′ focuses on the theme of ‘reconciliation’ and portrays Yeon Si Eun taking another step forward in his personal growth.
” Creator Han Jun Hee commented, “While the scale and action have definitely been taken up a notch, ‘Weak Hero Class 2’ is first and foremost the next chapter in Yeon Si Eun’s journey, which means the emotions run deeper than ever. Si Eun, who was wounded and lost his world, is now trying to stand up again—please look forward to what kind of story he’ll write next.” The series’ signature “brain action”—Si Eun turning his sharp intellect into strategic combat—will remain a key element.
Director Yoo Su Min shared, “In ‘Class 2,’ Si Eun’s action becomes even more desperate. We focused more deeply on ‘why’ he fights.” He continued, “With a wider cast of characters and action concepts tailored to each of them, the tension and impact of the action will be taken to new heights.
” The director also revealed the great attention to detail put into the art, sets, and music, emphasizing a strong sense of realism while staying true to the original webtoon. The open set for Eunjang High School was filmed in an actual school building and includes a variety of realistic locations, such as the basketball club room used by Park Hu Min ( Ryeoun ) and Go Hyun Tak ( Lee Min Jae ), and Choi Hyo Man’s ( Yoo Su Bin ) hideout. The spatial design—classroom size, layout, props, and atmosphere—was crafted to subtly reflect the power dynamics within the school.
The use of cinematography and music to convey the characters’ emotional journeys is another key feature. With a darker, more genre-driven tone, Season 2 uses a different approach in camera work and lighting to enhance the mise-en-scène. “While ‘Class 1’ had a summery blue tone, ‘Class 2’ uses an amber-toned winter palette to create a visual connection,” the director explained.
“Though ‘Class 1’ and ‘2’ tell one continuous story, the approach to each is slightly different, and we worked to bridge that gap through the music as well.” All eyes are also on the cast of rising stars, led by Park Ji Hoon, who returns with an even more emotionally layered performance as Yeon Si Eun. He’s joined by Ryeoun, Choi Min Yeong, Yoo Su Bin, Bae Na Ra, Lee Min Jae, and Lee Jun Young —each bringing fresh energy and new dynamics to the story.
Director Yoo Su Min expressed strong trust in the cast, saying, “Park Ji Hoon’s body and heart already remembered Yeon Si Eun. He handled many of the challenges we had anticipated on his own, and we’re incredibly grateful for that.” Han Jun Hee added, “It was an honor to be the first audience member watching Park Ji Hoon portray Yeon Si Eun on the monitor,” expressing his deep affection for the actor.
He continued, “The new characters who cross paths with Yeon Si Eun are a mix of friends and foes. I hope viewers enjoy the journey of friendship and conflict that Si Eun experiences. Also, the evolving relationship between Park Hu Min and Na Baek Jin (Bae Na Ra), representing Eunjang and the ‘union,’ is another key element to watch for.
