The classically French restaurant features a lot of brunch favorites on the menu including warm and buttery croissants, avocado toast and (my favorite) crawfish and grits.

The special "Grinch and Tonic" Christmas mocktail at Brasserie Byronz features a rosemary and cranberry ice snow globe, alcohol-free gin and tonic. The crawfish and grits were served in a cast iron skillet and came with an over-easy fried egg on top. The grits were creamy, cheesy and absolutely delectable.

Warning — the dish is very filling and is a good option to split between two or get the leftovers to-go. I accompanied my brunch with a shot of espresso and a Christmas special mocktail — "The Grinch and Tonic." Brasserie Byronz, 515 Mouton St.

, Baton Rouge (Margaret DeLaney, health coordinator) Lavender Honey Gelato at La Davina It might be the dead of winter, but Baton Rouge weather means it’s still warm enough for gelato. Even if it weren't, the creamy La Davina gelato is worth braving the cold. With 24 flavors of gelato/sorbet, you can’t go wrong, but the lavender honey gelato is enough to make it feel like spring is coming.

It’s creamy and wonderful — exactly what is needed. La Davina, 3535 Perkins Road, Baton Rouge (Serena Puang, features writer) The lavender honey gelato at La Davina. The Toscana from Mulberry Market The Toscana is what sandwich dreams are made of.

This option from Mulberry Market features stracciatella cheese, Genoa salami, mortadella, parmesan shavings, garlic truffle aioli (yes, please), arugula and olive oil on St. Bruno Bread Co. focaccia.

Every bite is a crispy, crunchy burst of flavor. And, if you're not super hungry, there's enough for leftovers. Mulberry Market, 8201 Village Plaza Court, Baton Rouge (Lauren Cheramie, features coordinator).
