Chennai: CPM , one of the major allies of the DMK, on Saturday condemned the DMK govt on various issues, including the recently resolved Samsung workers' strike . The TN state committee of the CPM which met in Chennai passed a resolution on the Samsung issue, stating that while it was sorted out a month ago, only 450 of the 1,450 workers have been permitted inside the factory. It may be recalled as soon as the strike was called off, CPM, CPI and VCK leaders called on chief minister M K Stalin to thank him for his intervention in amicably resolving the Samsung Electronics workers' strike.

It was agreed during the tripartite talks by Samsung authorities that all the 1,450 workers who protested would be taken back, but the assurance was not honoured, a resolution said. "Even those workers who were permitted are punished indirectly in the name of training, and they are forced to sign to accept the workers' union formed by the Samsung company," the resolution said. CPM also demanded that DMK govt approve the workers' union formed by the Samsung workers, which was agreed upon in the talks, and not to further postpone it.

The Samsung workers protested for more than a month with a host of demands, including the recognition of their workers' union. After several rounds of talks with the govt and the Samsung management, the protest was withdrawn. Resolutions were also passed demanding the DMK govt increase the recruitment of govt teachers under TET, withdraw the Tamil Nadu Land Consolidation (for Special Projects) Act, 2023 and drop the process of involving students in the digital crop survey in TN.
