IDUKKI: CPM state secretary MV Govindan has rejected the demand for a CBI probe by the family of ADM Naveen Babu in his death. MV Govindan responded that the party has a clear understanding about the CBI probe and that the CBI is a caged parrot. "However, the party is always with Naveen's family," Govindan said.

Meantime, the high court asked to produce the case diary of the investigation related to the death of Naveen Babu. The case diary has been asked to be produced on the 6th of next month. The court also asked the officer in charge of the investigation to file an affidavit.

The court was considering a petition filed by Naveen Babu's wife K Manjusha seeking a CBI probe into his death. A detailed hearing on the petition will be held on the 9th of next month. The court also sought the stand of the government and the CBI.

A notice will be sent to the CBI in the case. Petitioner Manjusha informed the court that the investigation was not in the right track. The family told the court that Divya has political influence and the investigation will be sabotaged.

The court asked the petitioner on what basis it was said to be a murder. The court also asked if there was any other reason other than that the accused was a political leader in saying that the investigation would be sabotaged. Naveen Babu's wife K Manjusha had filed a petition in the high court yesterday seeking a CBI probe into his death.

The petition alleges that Naveen Babu may have been murdered and hanged and that there was a big conspiracy behind the incident. According to the plea, the action of the SIT is aimed at protecting the sole accused, former district panchayat president PP Divya. There are also serious allegations that the district collector gave in to Divya's influence.

The allegation was made by referring to a statement made by Collector Arun K Vijayan later that Naveen had said that he had committed a mistake. The Special Investigation Team is not showing any interest in collecting scientific evidence. An attempt is being made to hide the evidence.

Even Naveen's colleagues are not ready to tell the fact for fear of Divya, who got influence in the party. The petition filed through advocate John Esralph demanded that a CBI probe be ordered into the case because of these reasons. The petition also has an interim demand for a stay on the submission of the final report by the special team.

A public interest litigation filed by Muraleedharan Koncherillam has also come up..
