PALAKKAD: In a notable split within the CPM over the ongoing "trolley bag" controversy, senior leader NN Krishnadas dismissed the relevance of the issue, urging that election discussions focus on popular political topics. Krishnadas emphasized that the matter of whether the trolley bag contained money or gold should be left to the police to investigate, rather than involving political parties. "The police will determine if there’s money or gold in the box—let them do their job," Krishnadas stated.

"Elections should be about addressing the concerns of the people in Palakkad, not sidetracked by talk of a 'yellow trolley' or 'blue trolley.' The party’s position aligns with this. Questions about why the trolley controversy is being highlighted should be directed to Minister MB Rajesh.

As for the district secretary, he will respond soon." Krishnadas added that he does not expect the district secretary to press charges in connection with the case, reiterating that discussions should pivot to popular issues. “If we focus on political matters in Palakkad, the UDF and BJP will lose ground," he asserted.

However, Palakkad CPM District Secretary EN Suresh Babu countered Krishnadas’s remarks, maintaining that the trolley bag controversy involves "black money" and that he intends to proceed with the complaint. "It’s a fact that black money was involved and the truth will emerge during the investigation," Suresh Babu remarked, standing firm on the need for an inquiry..
