The Dallas Cowboys are 3-4 as the trade deadline inches closer. The Cowboys had high hopes coming into the year. They could look to make a trade to get on track before it's too late.
While outlining the needs of every team, Bleacher Report's Scouting Department urged the Cowboys to trade for Panthers safety Xavier Woods. "The Cowboys could use some safety help as Donovan Wilson and Malik Hooker haven't been playing well this season," wrote Bleacher Report. "Meanwhile, the Panthers are trending toward another rebuild and should be sellers at the trade deadline, so getting some draft picks for a 29-year-old who is in a contract year would be a smart move.
" Woods signed a three-year, $15 million deal with the Panthers before the 2022 season. He is set to be a free agent after this year. Dallas could plug him into their defense right away due to his connection with Mike Zimmer.
"Woods began his career in Dallas and played for Mike Zimmer in 2021, so he has strong connections to the club," wrote Bleacher Report. "Plus, he's been a solid player this season and could help solve one of the defense's weaknesses." Woods is a veteran player.
The Panthers are not a winning team, and right now neither are the Cowboys. However, Dallas has the pieces to compete and made the playoffs just last season. Dallas' defense is not the only reason they are struggling, but it is one of the things that needs to be fixed.
The running game and quarterback play also need to be better. More NFL: Cowboys urged to cut ties with $1.1 million free agency addition.
