The Dallas Cowboys are losing Zack Martin to retirement and will need to replace him moving forward. Martin spent 11 seasons with the Cowboys before calling it a career. Martin leaves big shoes to fill, but the Cowboys may already have his replacement ready.
Martin's season ended early when he suffered a season-ending ankle injury. Brock Hoffman stepped in to replace him and FanSided's Criss Partee urged the Cowboys to stick with Hoffman moving forward. "Brock Hoffman might literally be the leader in the clubhouse for the role of replacing, future first-ballot Hall of Famer, Zack Martin," wrote Partee.
"Hoffman filled in last season when Martin went down with a season-ending ankle injury and played impressively well. He ended up starting seven games later in the year and was on the field when the offense began to click and he earned the respect of his teammates and fans. At just 25 years old, Hoffman has his prime years in full focus ahead of him and might be the best man for the job.
" Hoffman is an exclusive rights free agent this offseason. The Cowboys will have to make him a qualifying offer at the league minimum salary to bring him back. If he can have half the career Martin did with the Cowboys, it would be a great success.
Martin was a nine-time Pro Bowler and seven-time All-Pro. Martin's career could very well land him in the Hall of Fame one day. More NFL: Cowboys predicted to trade Micah Parsons for $72 million Seahawks Pro Bowler.
