Dallas Cowboys backup quarterback Trey Lance didn't just take a beating against the Philadelphia Eagles last Sunday, he lost a decent amount of money. Lance replaced Cooper Rush when the game got out of hand for the Cowboys. In limited action, he completed just four pass attempts for 21 yards and an interception.

During the fourth quarter of action, the former No. 3 pick actually made a tackle on Eagles safety Reed Blankenship. He was trying to prevent the defensive back from returning a fumble for a touchdown.

Even though Lance kept some points off the board for the Eagles, he cost himself $22,511. Unfortunately, we're not kidding about that. Lance has been fined over $22,000 for leading with his helmet while trying to bring down Blankenship.

com/9EhsD1KO4P NFL fans can't believe Lance lost money for this hit. They think it's another example of the league doing too much over something so inconsequential. "League is stealing money, what a load of crap," one fan said in response to this news.

Another person tweeted, "Just turn the NFL into flag football if this hit is gonna cost a guy $22,511. What's the point? "Man that’s a scoop and score if Trey doesn’t try to do anything there," a third fan commented. "On the other hand only playing a handful or two of snaps and down 22 bands has to suck.

" Michael Owens/Getty Images Lance is expected to be the backup quarterback for the Cowboys this Monday when they take on the Houston Texans. If Lance ends up playing on Monday night, he'll probably be extra careful when it comes to using his helmet. Related: Heisman Contender Ashton Jeanty Reveals 'Perfect' NFL Landing Spot.
