The Dallas Cowboys keep taking hits on both sides of the ball. Quite literally, some of those blows are taking a toll on the Cowboys' depth chart and beginning to pile up. Dallas saw some chances early on against the Houston Texans, but has not been able to sustain any momentum against their in-state foe.
Their attempt at a late rally has fallen short as well. Not soley responsible for this downfall, the abrupt losses across the offensive line factored into Dallas faltering down the stretch. Regardless, things got ugly for the Cowboys very quick.
Three key names went down for the Cowboys in fourth quarter. Rookie Tyler Guyton, Tyler Smith and veteran Zack Martin all came up with injury in the closing stages of another Dallas beatdown. Guyton's injury popped up first, coming on a strange play where he found himself with the ball in his hands.
The rookie got beat off the left edge, preceding a strip sack of Cooper Rush. Rush lost the ball and Guyton, foolishly playing hero, picked up the ball and ran with it, only to get blasted himself. His own fumble ended in a defensive touchdown for the Texans.
He was ruled questionable with a shoulder injury. Related: Cowboys Limp Into Halftime vs. Texans On the following drive, Zack Martin and Tyler Smith both came up limp, needing help off the field with their own ailments.
Their exact status is currently unknown. Rush immediately found himself under more heat and the drive would end with consecutive sacks. The Cowboys have experienced several embarrassing losses this season.
However, with the assistance of these injuries, this has been an unraveling unlike the others. Related: Dallas Cowboys Start Sloppy and Silly.
