Week 11 of the 2024 NFL season ended with another ugly loss from the Dallas Cowboys as the Houston Texans rolled into AT&T Stadium and came out with a 34-10 win. The Texans got off to a hot start immediately, getting a 45-yard touchdown run from running back Joe Mixon just six plays into the game. Houston got into the end zone another time in the first quarter and never looked back, holding at least a seven-point edge through the remainder of the night and not allowing Dallas to score in the second half.
With just over three minutes left in the game, Mixon scored his third touchdown of the night, increasing the Houston lead to 24. In doing so, according to ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys have now broken their own record of most consecutive games trailing by 20 or more points at home with six, dating back to last season's playoffs against the Green Bay Packers. Trailing, 34-10, with 3:16 to play, the Cowboys have now trailed by at least 20 points in six straight home games, dating back to last year's playoffs, building on their NFL record.
Dallas set the initial record of five games in Week 10 against the Philadelphia Eagles, where they wound up losing 34-6. In order, the Cowboys' ugly record includes home losses against the Packers, New Orleans Saints, Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions, Eagles and the Texans. With starting quarterback Dak Prescott out for the season, coach Mike McCarthy elected to go with Cooper Rush for the second straight game.
Against the Texans, the seventh-year quarterback attempted 55 passes, completing 34 for 354 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Not to mention his one fumble lost. Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images Dallas has fallen to 3-7 on the year and has shown no signs of turning its season around.
Jerry Jones' team will get another thought test in Week 12 as it heads to the nation's capital to face the 7-4 Washington Commanders. Then, the Cowboys will get a Thanksgiving battle with the 2-8 New York Giants in Week 13, with the loser possibly taking sole possession of last place in the NFC East.
