Coverage of Basil Zempilas rival unfair, imbalanced: press watchdog

The Seven West-funded Independent Media Council has upheld three complaints about negative coverage of the Perth mayor’s opponent.

Login The West Australian newspaper was unfair, imbalanced and hostile in its coverage of a rival to mayor, columnist and parliamentary candidate Basil Zempilas, the state’s press complaints body has found. The Independent Media Council – which is funded by Seven West Media, the owner of The West Australian – upheld three complaints made by Sandy Anghie, who ran an unsuccessful campaign to unseat Mr Zempilas at last year’s Perth mayoral elections.
