Coventry to host free events to mark St George's Day this month

Coventry will host three free events this year to celebrate St George's Day . The events will be held from Tuesday, April 22, to Friday, April 25. St George's Day Dragon Trail will take place in four venues across the city: Coventry Cathedral, Belgrade Theatre, Coventry Transport Museum, and Herbert Art Gallery.

The trail is family-friendly, and is suitable for young children, with a prize for each person that completes it and locates each dragon on the map. Locals can also attend the St George's Day pageant in Broadgate on Wednesday, April 23, from 11am to 3:30pm. The event will feature Morris dancers, a DJ, and St George's 'slaying his dragon'.

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events, Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, said: "We're delighted to once again be holding free family-friendly events to celebrate St.

George’s Day this month. "Those in the city centre will be able to watch performances from our entertainers themed for St. George’s Day in Broadgate, take part in the Dragon Trail and explore some of Coventry’s fantastic venues or enjoy an evening exhibition with some of Coventry’s Cultural groups.

All events and entertainment are completely free to all residents and visitors. Last year, our St. George’s Day celebrations were extremely popular, and we hope to see many join us again this year.
