Court's decision could force Cacique to vacate downtown building

A downtown Frederick restaurant may have to leave its longtime North Market Street location following a judge's decision released Tuesday. Frederick County Circuit Court Judge Diane English's order alters a decision she made in September that Cacique Fine Spanish & Mexican Cuisine could stay in its location because the building's owner had filed the wrong type of motion to evict the restaurant after it missed a $13,917 rent payment in May 2023.
