A Stillwater woman accused of filming herself abusing a child has pleaded guilty. Ashlee Marie Cheatham, 20, was charged with child sexual exploitation, distribution of child pornography, possession of pornography, child sexual abuse, unlawful access to a computer to violate Oklahoma Statutes and unlawful possession of a controlled drug. The six felony charges stemmed from a report by a person made to the Stillwater Police Department about finding disturbing images and videos on his girlfriend’s phone.
On Wednesday, Cheatham pleaded guilty to all six felonies in a blind plea. A blind plea isn’t an agreement between the Payne County District Attorney’s Office and the defendant. The presiding judge determines the sentence.
A pre-sentence investigation was ordered to be completed by Nov. 26, with sentencing scheduled for Dec. 6.
Corey Lee Hayes, 31, was charged with one count of child sexual abuse in February after a 4-year-old child disclosed sexual abuse. Court documents accused Hayes of abusing a child while on a camping trip. Hayes’ bond was set at $50,000 and hasn’t been posted.
Last month, the court scheduled him for a jury trial but struck the date. The court minutes state that they rescheduled the trial to Aug. 6.
The court postponed his case and set a new jury trial for January. Stillwater woman charged with sexually exploiting a child is back in court Rebekah Faith Jett, 42, was charged on July 3 with child sexual exploitation and lewd indecent proposals to a child. According to court documents, a woman had noticed a child taking nude images on an adult’s phone.
Investigators said Jett took naked photographs of herself and a child and sent them to her husband, Mark Jett, who lives in Stephens County. Mark Jett was charged with child sexual abuse in Stephens County on July 3. Since he lives in Velma, Payne County doesn’t have jurisdiction to prosecute and investigate the allegations.
Police initially didn’t consider Rebekah Jett a suspect until the child disclosed Jett took the photos and, according to police, enabled the abuse. She returns to court on Dec. 3.
