Pune: A special court on Monday rejected the anticipatory bail plea filed by a labour contractor and father of one of the two minors, who were with the 17-year-old Porsche Taycan driver at the time of the accident on May 19. Police have arrested an aviation spares firm owner, who is the father of the other accompanying minor, and a jeweller-cum-realtor, who is the friend of the labour contractor, on the charge of conspiracy to manipulate the blood alcohol tests of the two minors. The labour contractor is yet to be arrested.

The court had on August 23 rejected his interim anticipatory bail plea. A full text of the order issued by special judge U M Mudholkar will be made available later. Lawyer Abid Mulani, representing the contractor, told TOI, "We will challenge the anticipatory bail rejection order in the Bombay high court on Tuesday.

" Special public prosecutor Shishir Hiray had opposed the bail plea because the documents seized by the police showed the contractor's prima facie involvement in the crime. Hiray had argued that his questioning was essential to find out who had prompted him to have the blood sample of his son swapped, and whether it was his individual act or he had acted at the behest of the teenage car driver's parents. The prosecution had submitted that his questioning would also help the police find out who had introduced him to the two suspended doctors of Sassoon General Hospital.

Mulani had argued that the charges relating to destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy under sections 201 and 120 (b) of the Indian Penal Code could not be attracted against his client if the offence was bailable and non-cognisable. The prosecution had not brought on record the nexus between his client and the child in conflict with the law, Mulani had said. "My client had no intention to commit the crime to safeguard the minor from getting punished.

" In a related development, the police will file their written submissions on the regular bail applications filed by the aviation spares firm owner and the jeweller. The court will hear the bail pleas on Sept 13. Two young software engineers were killed after the Porsche Taycan driven by the teenager, son of a city-based builder, hit their bike at Kalyaninagar around 2.
