Couple saved in boat ramp mishap

Employees from the Islander 71 eatery and sports bar reportedly rescued an out-of-town couple on the evening of Sept. 14, as a vehicle with both individuals drove off a boat ramp and into the water at the Isle of Palms Marina. According to the Isle of Palms Police Department (IOPPD), the two visitors were thrown off-track by their GPS directions causing them to land in the local body of water.

The vehicle was recovered with the assistance of the Charleston County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) and the US Coast Guard, police stated. No environmental impacts or injuries were reported..
