A country retreat in Sussex has been named one of the best places for a spring break in the UK. The list by The Guardian highlights spots across the UK to enjoy the springtime. From puffin-spotting in Mull and stargazing in Northumberland to finding Narnia in the Mourne Mountains, it suggests 20 places to visit.

Sussex country retreat named one of UK's best spring breaks One of the suggestions by The Guardian for a spring break was enjoying some culture in the South Downs.
It specifically highlighted The Alfriston hotel as a great country retreat to visit. The list said: "In the folds of the South Downs, the Alfriston hotel opens at the end of this month (March) – just in time for bluebell season. "On the edge of the East Sussex village from which it takes its name, the revamped country retreat has 38 rooms, a brasserie serving seasonal classics, a spa and outdoor pool.

These include the Firle Beacon trial, walks through Cuckmere Valley and a visit to Friston Forest.
