BEACH VOLLEYBALL NCDC Corporate Beach Volleyball Competition Season 1 served off last weekend with round 1 at Ela Beach. Round 1 displayed a blend of excitement and challenges. The day began with a review of the Beach Volleyball Code, focusing on the updated rules and the incorporation of player substitutions, an essential aspect for the competition.

Once the briefing was done, the games officially began. President Alfred Vaitai said, it was a struggle for the players to adjust to the playing outside in the sand, “early on, players struggled to adjust to the beach volleyball format. Many mistakenly applied indoor volleyball techniques, such as setting and volleying when receiving serves.

However, as the games progressed, the players adapted to the specific beach volleyball rules, and the intensity of the competition began to ramp up. The matches became more competitive, with teams gradually finding their rhythm and bringing energy to the courts.” Despite several forfeits by the host team, NCDC, in all their matches, other teams managed to complete their scheduled two games per division, including the Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed divisions.

The atmosphere was lively, and teams worked hard to improve their performance as the competition unfolded. Although the games started an hour behind schedule, the Match Chairman was pleased with the overall progress. In fact, all matches were completed two hours ahead of the expected finish time, much to the relief of the organisers.

Vaitai expressed his satisfaction with the successful start of the season, noting the relief that games were not only underway but also completed on time. He acknowledged the enthusiasm and determination shown by both new and seasoned teams, which bodes well for the rest of the season. “As the competition continues, the NCDC Corporate Beach Volleyball season promises to bring more thrilling matches, with teams eager to demonstrate their skills and strive for victory.
