Coronation Street 's beloved character, Sarah Platt, played by Tina O'Brien, could be on the brink of a shocking new affair, according to avid fans. Since her debut in 1999, Sarah has become an iconic figure on the cobbles, involved in numerous dramatic storylines ranging from teenage pregnancy to unexpected affairs. Currently, she is dealing with the heartbreak of her daughter Bethany (Lucy Fallon) being fitted with a permanent stoma bag after a disastrous surgery abroad.
In September, Bethany suffered a perforated bowel and life-threatening sepsis following a botched liposuction procedure in Turkey. The opportunity turned into a nightmare when doctors were forced to operate. The family was left scrambling to cover hospital bills as it became apparent that her medical insurance would not cover the costs.
Consequently, Bethany's grandmother Gail Platt (Helen Worth) took out a bridging loan to sell her house. Due to the complications from the surgery and sepsis, Bethany now lives with a stoma bag. She has returned to Weatherfield after her life-altering surgery but continues to struggle with her new reality, reports the Liverpool Echo .
Bethany Platt, portrayed by actress Lucy Fallon, has seen her confidence shatter in the wake of her health struggles on Coronation Street . Her mother Sarah and partner Daniel (played by Rob Mallard) have been her pillars of support as she grapples with her new reality, especially after a mortifying incident at the Rovers Return where her stomach bag leaked. Yet, in an unexpected turn that could shake things up, viewers are convinced that Sarah is on the brink of starting a steamy affair with Daniel.
A Coronation Street enthusiast speculated on a Facebook fan page: "How long before Daniel and Sarah have an affair?" The comment sparked a flurry of agreement among fans, though not all were thrilled by the prospect. One fan responded: "I can see it coming. Wouldn't put it past her.
" Another added their voice to the mix, saying: "Thought that myself and I feel sick! " The sentiment was reinforced by another who commented: "Oh my god...
I was literally thinking that." Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX If you love your soaps pick up Love TV's Best of British Soaps, packed with all your favourite characters and storylines. As well as interviews and quizzes.
