Coronation Street star Jane Danson has clapped back after seeing comments about her appearance - specifically her weight - online. The actress is currently back at the forefront of the ITV soap as Leanne Battersby. For months viewers have desperately wanted to see Leanne back to her old self as she was swept up by The Institute following her first meeting with mentor Rowan Cunliffe back in March.
At the time, Leanne was taken aback when the group mentor approached her and offered her some unsolicited advice as she dealt with Simon's drink-driving and her partner Nick Tilsley's reaction. Then, during scenes aired last week in Corrie, the penny seemingly dropped for Leanne after she helped Rowan trawl through Amy's 'upload session' for something to use against her so she would drop wanting the £40,000 she naively invested back.
She later came across a tearful Amy who revealed she was being blackmailed by Rowan and The Institute and issued some of the blame to Leanne, saying she trusted her. Leanne tried to defend the Institute but Amy didn't hold back and it seemingly left Leanne with some food for thought. She went back to the Chariot Square Hotel and told Rowan that Amy wasn't backing down and that they needed to find something else to use against her.
But when Rowan was distracted, Leanne went through his laptop and started deleting files that contained members' 'uploads'. Leanne was left heartbroken by Nick's actions (Image: ITV) However, as she phoned her sister Toyah Habeeb to tell her she had been right all along, Leanne was heartbroken when she found the photo of Toyah and Nick kissing behind her back which Rowan was using to blackmail Nick and headed to the Bistro where she confronted her partner in front of his family at Max Turner's 18th celebration. He admitted he had fallen for Toyah in another blow and later, Leanne came across a worried Toyah.
But instead of exchanging conversation, Leanne quickly gave her an almighty slap and told her to leave her alone before Shona Platt comforted her sobbing in the street. Later, Leanne's anger for Nick was palpable but she admitted she still loved him, all while he accused her of saying it to make him feel worse for what he's done as he blamed her for pushing him away in their relationship. After the emotional scenes, a clip was shared on Corrie's official Instagram page alongside the caption: "What's broken can't be fixed," with a broken heart emoji.
But amongst those commenting about the storyline was one viewer who made a remark about Jane's weight, with them writing: "Leanne is so thin all of a sudden". However, Jane quickly hit back and said: "No she isn’t. My weight has been the same for 20 years," before adding a thumbs up emoji.
And fans were rushing to respond to Jane's comment. @lesleycampbell463 said: "And you look great on it!" @kieranbradlee95 wrote: "This is the clap back I like to see." @v_29_92 added: "Lucky you I wish I could keep mine the same for a week.
